Front/Rear Cover Alignment Tool mimics the balancer to center the cover on the front/rear seal or locates on the ID of the seal bore in the cover without the seal installed.

Why You Need?
GM engines use front and rear seals with inner sealing lips. For proper seal function and longevity it is critical that the seals be aligned perfectly concentric to the front diameter on the balancer hub and rear sealing surface on.
On the LS engine, the oil pan is a stressed member and adds to block rigidity. Due to this reason, it can't simply be slapped in place. Along with the front and rear engine covers, it must be carefully aligned with the block.
Installation Steps:
1. Bolt oil pan align-tool down by 2 bolts.
2. Install loosely the front cover and gasket.
3. Hold smaller end of front cover align-tool into cover, tighten the bolts on cover. Tighten 2 bolts on oil pan align-bracket, then take tool off.
4. Press front seal to crankshaft. Put larger end of front cover align-tool in, flip it around crank. Give some whacks by rubber mallet to get a sealed properly. Then remove align-tools.
5. Install loosely the rear cover and gasket, tighten the bolts on cover.
6. Put rear seal and rear cover align-tool on crank. Give some whacks to make sure that seal is even.
